OK, here's an interesting one. I'm recording a very long clip, for a corporate client. These things go for an hour or two.

I set up just one audio track, and record. I'll record the whole thing, and it fundtions properly the whole time, with the now time line moving continuoulsy, no dropouts during recoridn.

When I check it, the clip is only 22 minutes long.

I'm running on a laptop, windows XP, 2.4 ghz, 512 RAM, 40ghz hard drive. Sigma tel audio card (OK - that could be an issue, I know).

I'm recoridng at 16 bit/44.1K, latency set all the way to 350 ms. My I/O buffer is 64, and I think I'll try changing that. (Playback buffers are 4).

Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm guessing you could be bumping up against a file size limitation. I know the older versions of Windows had a 2 GB limit on file size. Don't know if XP or Sonar still has one, or what the limit might be.

Take a look at the recorded wave file. How big is it?

sounds more like a stability problem which cakewalk products are notorious for....i'd say switch programs...i'd reccommend samplitude 7

Of course you do. :p :D

But cakewalk should record an hour just fine. I can, anyway. But I've got a better soundcard, thought.

If you're only recording one track, then maybe an editor is for you? Like Sound Forge, Wavelab, GoldWave or Audacity (which is free) ?

moskus is definitly on the ball...wavelab or sound forge is definitly a better way to go for stereo track recording
