Stop midi recording onto audio track

I've got a melody on a midi track and now want to record some guitar on a second audio track but each time I try to do that, whilst listening to the midi, it records itself onto the audio track. How do I stop it doing that?

Make sure that the record button on the midi track is off and only on on the audio track.

Might try this:
Double click the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your screen.
go to options & choose properties,
choose recording and uncheck midi and 'What u Hear' or anthing similar to that
