Or is Fairfax county more appropriate?
Perrhaps the state police would be the ones to contact if you crossed county lines.

I bet this guy would love someone to forward this thread to him!

Uhm ... "Subtractor" already pointed this out, but ... you knowingly accepted stolen goods, then sold them to someone else. Far from letting you off the hook, when you sold them to the GC guy you committed another crime (and so did the GC guy, who would happily testify against you in exchange for immunity, I'm sure). I hope, for your sake, this whole thread is joke.

Dude,do you blow your father with that mouth?
Just curious, did you know you have a cyber twin?Goes by the

Good one...but it may be a little late.

I have a feeling there are some cops on this board...out of 20,000 recording nuts (registered), there has to be a couple! :D

First of all, just because Mars is out of business doesn't mean no one will care about the item being stolen. When it was reported stolen, an insurance claim would have been filed, either by Mars or Mackie, or the store's crediting financial institution. Those numbers go into a national database (I know about this because every single piece of gear I own is insured).

When GC takes that piece in, they take your fingerprint before they'll complete the sale. The serial will eventually be run against that database by those in operations.

Those who are in trust of Mars' holdings will be interested in recovering the piece in the hopes that they will be able to sell it to regain capital with which to pay their creditors.

When it comes up stolen, there will be a papertrail right back to you. If what you say is true, the gentleman with whom you dealt is also in gross violation of applicable laws.

Receiving stolen is the charge you will be slapped with. You may also find that you'll have interstate commerce stuff to deal with, and possibly obstructing justice. Ever hear that posession is 9/10th's of the law? yeah...

and no offense, but what have you worked hard for? weren't you the same kid whose parent's blew $42,000 on about $20,000 worth of gear?

Egads- no wonder teenagers think all adults are f&cked in the head. At the risk of sounding religious, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

I don't know about you all, but I was an idiot when I was a teenager (I probably still am). You mean to tell me that all of you throwing flack at this guy have never done anything illegal? Never stolen something when you were a kid? Never smoked pot? Most kids know that adults tell them to do things they themselves never did.

Hey, you're all right: owning stolen goods is a crime, and especially immoral when you know the stuff is hot. Maybe I worked with kids too long and I'm more sensative to their points of view than most. I just remember being a teenager and having things like this go in one ear and out the other. A bunch of self-righteuos adults spouting off stuff that doesn't really make sense. Anyone else remember that feeling?

OnTheBlack- your honesty here is getting you into trouble. Being honest is good. Being honest about stuff you KNOW isn't right, doesn't make it right. You know that, too. That isn't what you were trying to imply, but that's how the folks reading the thread saw it. You were asking a question about what to do with stolen stuff, but they saw you trying to justify something illegal.

The legal thing to do would be to accept the goods, call the police, turn over the stolen goods and report the guy who stole them. That's the law so its the only answer you're likely to get to your question in a public forum such as this. I'm kinda surprised you thought you might get a different answer.

I *highly* doubt all the folks on this thread would have actually done that at age 16, though. I didn't. And I stopped ALL even vaguely illegal activities when I turned 18 and I realized I was playing for keeps.

This is why we have minor laws- kids take a while to figure out how reality, right and wrong line up. It doesn't make him stupid, it makes him a teenager. He's not supposed to know everything about how the world works, yet.

Anyway, just my .02$ OnTheBlack, the only thing I can add to the "advice" in this thread is to think VERY carefully about who you want to relate with and how their actions affects you. Owning stolen stuff is quite illegal and could easily get you into a lot of trouble, even if you feel like you aren't the one who did the stealing. Once you turn 18, that kind of stuff can cost you a LOT. If it becomes a way of life (which I kinda doubt it is for you) it can lead to some very dark habits. Been there, done that- got the t-shirt... I'll tell you the story if you want.

Actually, C7's idea isn't bad. This is a good thread to erase. Just go in and edit your first post and it will give you the option to delete it. Do that isn't admitting that you were wrong- its just prudent. Do you really want evidence around where you clearly state you owned and sold illegal goods?

Take care,
Chris

I see alot of wisdom in this thread. I'm hardly perfect and I'm along way from being totally lawful at all times...

But when I say "I would hurry and delete this thread if I were you.", I am not baiting... I was serious. We all know except for the offender that he is involved, confessed and guilty of fairly serious crimes. Not only that, but he gave up the actual theif too!!! chrisarua@hotmail.com!

And I'm sorry, I don't give a fuck who you are, if you talk or type to me like that, and you just signed a confession and said
well first of all i'd like to say FU&K off

Well then...
It's time for a little lesson in responsiblity.
I told you this thread should've been deleted. I showed you the guitar center and you corrected me (they'll figure it out). I showed you phone #'s and emails of your local authorities, and gave you fair and responsible warning to delete this thread while you had time...

I'm afraid the time for opinions is over DOUCHEBAG.
It's all about morality, responsibility, you running your mouth time after time, and you and the Virginia State Police, or if forwarded your county sheriff now.

Have fun FISH.

PS
I can't fucking believe you made that post after I posted all that info...

Look on the bright side. Evidently you are still a juvy. They might just ignore the report, or at least you aren't going to do any time (maybe).
But as far as this thread goes, it's pretty much evidence by now.
You really gotta learn to watch your mouth.

This kid makes me laugh so hard.

You guys must do a search on his name, he posts the most incredibly funniest things.

I think you are right Chris. Adults can be self righteous and arrogant with youth but that is not what I saw develop here. Granted some harsh and possibly insulting language was used early on but I saw that as an attempt to get this "young man" to understand the gravity of his and, by virtue of his posting, our situation. Didn’t we all became accessories to the fact when he asked our advice on how to safely, and profitably I might add, dispose of stolen property. Yes I did some Dumb Shit but something told me not to involve others. In my opinion OTBRs own lack of discretion and ensuing obstinance are to blame and worthy of harsh treatment.

Dan, ( ontheblackrock@hotmail.com ),
Let me guess, Chris ( chrisarua@hotmail.com ), your "freind" (sic), was your drummer in "Falling Short." He "gave" you the items before he moved to Pennsylvania for school.
Joe, your bassist, left your band due to his mom's illness.(I hope that she's feeling better.)
Does Joe, or your other guitarist, Dave ( Laxdant17@hotmail.com ) know that the items were stolen? Do your parents know?
I've also had some very rare items stolen, so people that steal get no sympathy from me, especially when they are caught.
If I were you, (which I'm not) I'd call the cops, and explain the situation to them.
Tell them that you've had a chance to think about your actions, and that you now know that you did the wrong thing.
Maybe they'll go easy on you.

This thread makes me wonder how much of the gear you have listed was bought legit.
I have a lot of trouble believing that anyone could be so stupid as to blindly spend $42,000 .Especially on a snot nosed little bastard such as your self.
B.t.w.,be sure to let me know your inmate I.D.#when you get to
prison.I will send you a box of condoms so your man can practice safe sex on you.

Bad day for Black Rock?

Hope you like catching, man. Heard you don't get to pitch til you got seniority...

bought it back

I went back and gave the guy the money he gave me for the boss and got it back. I agve it to chris's mom and told him it was his and I didn't want it. I'm not going to rat my friend out like that... just like i wouldn't rat out some1 i didn't even know if they turned to me for advice AHEM subtractor AHEM . thats gay and a prick move. I'm sure if you guys who are adults asked someone for advice on kissing a woman while you were at a bar while you had a wife and some guy you didn't even know over heard followed you home and ran and told your wife thatd be pretty gay huh? yah well this things over so give it a rest. I dont have the things anymore and REJECTED the stolen goods.

P.s. - subtractor the only left i have to say to you is a little helpful advice... you should take a bath hook up a mic to a VERY powerful power amp (the more watts the better) plug it in and sing under water with the mic. You get a cool sound effect... try it
