Alright, I'll see if I can lay down exactly my situation, and hopefully someone out there can help me.

I currently have:
- iMac 800mHz/60GB HD/512MB RAM with CD-R drive
- MBox with ProTools LE
- Propellerhead Reason version 2.5
- Apple Soundtrack version 1.2
- Radium61 USB Keyboard
- headphones
- Takamine EG-230 acoustic/electric guitar
- a couple Big Fish Audio loop CD's

I am trying to record basically everything from samples, loops, etc., and will eventually add vocals. My style is pop/rock/soul (i.e. John Mayer, Marc Broussard, Gavin DeGraw, etc.). I have started on some projects using only Soundtrack, although since they are only loops, the songs are not as personalized as I would want. Any tips/hints/tricks for getting a neat sound would be greatly appreciated.

A very broad question...

but I do know Soundtrack, it has a few very cool and intuitive features. If you can work in Word, you know half the shortcuts in Soundtrack already.

Copy, Paste, the filter menu has many cool tools to use on your projects. Have you used the built-in mic on your mac to create your own beats, and then import them into your bigger projects?

One of the questions I have in Soundtrack is importing clips. I can't seem to change the tempo or the key of the .aiff samples, even though the ones built into Soundtrack are .aiff files. Any clue on this?

Forget all that looping and sampling--just record. You DO play an instrument, right??? If not maybe you should consider a career in bringing the hotness and droppin' phatt beatz.
