Hey all! Just started here yesterday and have already learned a ton. Definitely looking for some feedback. I used Garageband with an M-audio firewire solo as an interface.

Thanks for the help!

It wouldn't let me link it because I'm too new here...

Sounds great. Sounds like the vocals need to be louder though for sure

Thanks!

Thanks for listening. How did the guitar sound, I spent wayyyyyyy too long messing with it?

Thanks for listening. What did you think of the guitar? I spent wayyyyyy too long messing with it.

I liked the guitar part. The guitar sound itself was a little on the thin side.

I would raise the vocal level. Put it out a bit in front of the guitar.

The song has a bit of energy. To me it needs more than a guitar and vocal. I'm thinking a standard pop quartet. Harmonies would be nice. Double tracking the vocals in the chorus might sound nice. One slightly pitchy note on the second syllable of "inside" at about 1:06.

Something sounds weird here. It sounds very, very thin. Vocals sound pretty good, but ... thin. The song itself works quite well, and I like it. Very good for a first try, man. Problem is, I can't think of any solutions for "thin"-ness right now... It's pretty late.

Sounds awesome for a beginner, dude. Keep it up!

I thought the all round performance was very good, but the mix is as others have said, very thin - and it's largely down to the tone on the acoustic.

What did you do in terms of messing with it? One solution in terms of fixing this mix may be to add a bass line (if you have a bass) but in terms of the guitar in general, how are you processing it?

On the guitar I have a compressor and an EQ. Mostly EQ is the thing I'm struggling with, I'm not really sure how to get it to sound full and clear. If its full, its too muddy but if its clear its thin. Thanks for the tip!

- guitar sounds fine, but there some slight phase problems. you should be more carefully with microphone positioning (or did you use stereowidening?)
- vocals are too thing -> don't cut too much lows. maybe cut only around 80hz & try too boost then with a lowshelf @300hz around 4-6dB

the shaker got too much coffeine, isn't it? try the half the speed ;-)

Cool loving the song dude :) how did you record the guitar? as in what mic(s) and placement and same with vocals? The M audio sounds cards seem to be pretty good.

for guitar I used the line in on the Firewire Solo and a Shure Beta 87a about 6 inches from the twelfth fret pointed at the sound hole of the guitar. for vocals just the shure beta 87a.

i'll make some of those vocal changes a re-upload. thanks a lot for listening... anything else?

The vocals are thin, and dry. Their dryness adds to the thinness. You prolly used a cheap mic too. No prob, that's what EQ is for. And compression. And reverb.

Okay - I tried fixing the eq and compression on the vocals, i left the guitar alone because I really don't even know where to start. i added background vox in the chorus and changed part of the shaker pattern. let me know what you think. Thanks!View attachment Anything but Possible.mp3
