My Fostex MR8 won't let me transfer a file from my PC to the recorder unless it's mono. I create my drum beats using Fruity Loops and when I save them as WAV files they are automatically stereo. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

My suggestion would be to export as .wav into an audio editing program like WaveLab of SoundForge, then convert to mono, before sending to the Fostex.

Cool, thanks for your help. I don't have those programs but I'll see what I can do. I guess my question is this... If I manually pan everything to one side of the stereo field and resave it, will that be a mono WAV, or will that just be a stereo WAV with all the sound on one side? Thanks again for your help.

BINGO!
I belive you can get a free version of WaveLab Lite online.

Many wave editor programs let you split a stereo wav.
In this way you preserve both images and export them separately as mono files (L and R ).

Look at the settings in fruity loops when you save something as a wav. There might be a setting to save as mono.
