hey all
I've been spoiled by my old Tascam 4-track. It's not working now
but I'm moving to PC anyway because my ambition is too big to fit on four tracks...anyway, one thing I got used to on my portastudio was using the two AUX sends and returns for stereo reverb; I loved that I could adjust the relative level of reverb on each side for each track--like a crude pan control for the 'verb only, separate from the track. Since then I've had the opportunity to play with both ProTools and Cakewalk Sonar on bandmates' computers. Great stuff, this digital desktop recording! And all these cool plug-ins! Nice, nice reverbs!! Except... Maybe I'm just not experienced enough yet, but it seems to me that reverb plug-ins only affect each track in a kind of mono fashion, and even the "stereo" option on ProTools' reverb (D-Verb?) doesn't actually separate the effect from the track so as to pan it separately. If this is the case it seems like to get that stereo reverb would require some kind of kluge involving adding extra reverb-only tracks or something. Am I missing something here?
thx...cheers
