I'm having problems recording in stereo with my Soundblaster Live... I'm hoping somebody can help me, because as far as I can tell I'm doing everything right, yet it still doesn't work...
Ok, here's my setup. I've got a Soundblaster Live! X-Gamer... I also have a Behringer Eurorack 602A, into which is plugged two mics. One mic is panned hard right, the other hard left, on the console... both of these mics are recording a 20 watt RMS electric guitar amp... Now I have two 1/4" cables, one coming out of the Main Out left, the other coming out of the Main Out right, on the console... these two cables are plugged into a stereo Y splitter (yep, the male end has the 2 black rings on it...), and this is plugged into a stereo mini-jack adapter (the male end also has the 2 black rings on it...). Now I have this plugged into the line-in jack on my Soundblaster Live X-Gamer. In theory, this should send a stereo signal to the Soundblaster, right?
When I record using this setup, I am getting both microphones through the left channel, and the right channel comes out blank. I've tried both Cool Edit 96 and n-Track studio... both only get the left channel. But the thing is, I'm pretty sure both mics are going to the left side, not just one mic, as if it really is mono. I tried unplugging one of the main outs on the console, to see what would happen. With only one of the cables plugged in (either one...), it comes out the left channel.
Why is this? What have I missed? Is there a special setting on the Live I need to change before what I'm trying to do will work? Is my SB broken?
Please help... I would appreciate it.
