stereo recording through a 1/8" plug

answer me this: using two mics through my mackie vlz 1604, and mixing through the RCA tape outputs to my turtle beach sound card 1/8" input, can i separate the two mics onto two separate tracks? i will be using cakewalk 8-9 most likely. i was thinking of panning each guitar hard left and hard right, and sending the signals out from my mixer, and that since the 1/8" is stereo, i could record the two in separate tracks. tell me if this can be done as i described it, and if it's wrong, i'd appreciate some nice EASY pointers. thanks alot.

You got it, turtle.

Send one mic's ouput hard left, the others hard right.

Down the wires they go to the 1/8" jack.

In the recording software, arm one track to record from the soundcard's left side; arm another to record from the right side.

Voila, 2 mono tracks.
