Stereo or mono mic

Hi am not a drummer but have the fun of micing the kit.
I have one overhead and my question on that is should I record it as stereo?
It is an audio technica atm33R. It sounds nice but I am still experimenting because I dont get enough H/H out of the set up yet.
I am also micing the kick, snare and 3 toms seperatly. I think they should be recorded as mono right?
Thanks

A Marshal 603S is a good high hat mic. A pair makes a nice stereo pair of overheads. Does each mic have channel on your board? I would record mono & Pan them in mix down. I wouldn't go hard left & right but like 3 & 9 or what ever U find sounds good. I find two seperate overheads work better than just a stero mic. You can pick up all your cymbals better. I would use a seperate mic on the hats myself.

Thanks for the advice guys. It was a dumb question asking about the stereo with one mic.
Should the over head mics be the same mic? I mean is it best if I can find another match to the one I have now?
Thanks

You will get the best results with a matched pair of mics, but having the 2 of the same mic is sufficient.
