Made Man 4 Life
along with music, i also do post production... long story short, i need an idea on a good Stereo Mic for field recordings. Last one i've used was an Audio Technica, but i have no clue which model, im thinking it was a AT822, but since im no longer recording to DAT, should i go for the AT825? i need suggestions for a relatively low costing stereo mic, (i dont wanna say cheap).

any suggestions would be much apreciated.

dang straight to the point with a link, thank you. n e other suggestions?

Spring for a VP88 if you can scrape up the cash. It costs about twice an AT825, but from everything I've read, it gives somewhat better stereo imaging. I just got one myself, for piano recording mostly, but a little EFP video work when I'm in the mood.

That said, the AT825 should also be a decent mic. What you probably -don't- want is its big brother, the 835ST. That's a shotgun, and its stereo imaging is reported to seriously leave something to be desired. About the only thing that shotguns makes sense for, IMHO, is ENG applications where the goal is to reach for a distant sound rather than to actually get a good stereo image.

I've used that Shure VP88 too. Very good for stereo recording! I'm sure there are better - and more expensive - options. But I feel it's a great value considering quality and ease of use.
