hey all,

I've had quite a lot of experience using Cubase Studio 4 but mainly just as a sequencer using vst's and things...
I have started to use my mic to mess around with vocal's and guitar mainly and can record what i want perfectly. Now i want to use effects before they get recorded i.e delay on saxophone so you can create new sounds using the delay etc.
I have all of the inserts and/or sends for achieving this but i don't know how to apply it pre-recorded just post recorded.
I'm sure i've used cubase somewhere else with a stereo in channel on the mixer but there isn't one on mine?! i assume if you have that you can just put the sends on the stereo in channel?
can i get one or is there another technique??

many thanks
Joe

Do you mean you want to hear it before it gets recorded like that?

I guess what I'm asking is why do you want to do it like that?

yeah thats what i mean.
its only because i want to make a track using delay on a sax. as in the delay would set the tempo, so you need to hear what it sounds like to be able to play live otherwise it would be a fair amount of editing...
i've used delay before but that was using hardware and i don't have any of my own.
is there actually an answer to this question?? i've traulled through quite a lot of places.

The orange button on the track should do what you want (make your insert effects listenable).

If you hear a delay when you hit that button, turn off direct monitoring and lower your buffer settings. :)
