Stereo Expander Question...

Personally I don't like the way those expanders sound--especially if the listener has a cheap stereo with a built in "stereo expander" setting on it.

If the mix needs to be wider--WIDEN THE MIX!

The only use I've personally found for stereo expanders is widening some mono tracks, or processing stuff in the mix. I don't find them very pleasing to use as a mastering tool on the entire mix. But for an element or two in an otherwise unaltered mix it should be okay.
