Static problem? Or what?

I have a Fostex VF160 recorder, whose 8 inputs I've connected to a Behringer patchbay.

I've noticed when inserting plugs into the patchbay, every so often, as I insert the plug, the peak lights on the Fostex will flash, as if some charge is going into the unit (even though the plugs themselves are not coming from a powered up unit).

Is this a static discharge or some kind, or what? And what should I be doing about it?

It's unlikely static discharge... more likely a momentary short ground, from sliding the plug pasts three jack taps while pushing it home in the bay...

I wouldn't worry about it...
