Hey guys, wondering if i could get a little help, I have a presonus audiobox usb which is connected to a powered usb hub. The problem i'm having is there is a lot of static noise coming from the box, every time i arm a track to record with nothing plugged into the audio interface there is noise, which is sitting at about -45db, i've done everything i can to stop this i.e change the usb cable, re installer the drivers, clean the box, run the audio box through various usb ports and i'm still getting the same static noise. The quick fix solution is the gate the track but to be honest i want everything to work as it should. If this means i have to buy a new interface then so be but I want to know if there is a fix before i do this.

"Arm a track" in your DAW? Is it possible you've overlooked something that's inputting to the DAW, and that your Presonus unit is simply and accurately monitoring this errant input?

Just a WAG.

It's generally best to connect your interface directly to a USB port on your computer.

Is your computer a laptop or a desktop? Some laptops are notoriously noisy due to their grounding schemes.

I have tried the various different USB ports and get the same result, i'm using a laptop but i will try it with a different computer and see if that makes a differences, thanks.

Try it with your laptop on battery power.

That sounds normal.
What happens if you arm a track with something plugged in?

Try to connect your audio interface direct to your hard drive as our friend above said.

You don't want to make it complex for the soundcard to communicate with your system.
Keep your hub for other uses!

Since you said that you tried others too, maybe your audiobox is a faulty one? Call the company and ask for a new one
