Rev, agree on your summation regarding the VTB-1 and DMP3's
sonic characteristics.
My personal taste is for the less "forward' sound, so it was a major factor in preferring the VTB-1, along with it being a bit quieter at the near/full gain settings for dynamic vocal microphones. (being hyper-sensitive to noise too)
Prefer the sound of vinyl LP's over most CD's, so what does that tell you?
Objectively, they're both good sounding pre's and complementary IMHO.
For an amateur like myself, I think it's better to leave the "tube blend" feature as an option during mixdown BTW.
