starting up

Im looking to start recording on my computer. Im trying to find what i will need.. what mics and pre/mixer i might need/want. I will be recording vocal, acoustic g, and a fender hot rod. Right now i just have a sb live. Will i need to upgrade that in order to get any quality out? Im looking at the mackie 1202 and god knows what mics.
follow up q, what would be good cards for like 250 and under?

As far as mics and pre's....I like to go and sample them live at guitar center or sam ash and see what I like because of the TOO many choices syndrom.
The SB wont cut as a quality card. Perhaps an m-audio Audiophile 2496 card will do you right at your budget. Or search eBay for used.
