standalone graphic eq for use with a DAW

Hi everyone,

Sorry to start a new thread so close to my last one :). Anyway I was thinking of using a standalone rack mounted eq with my workstation(when its built). That way I don't have to be limited by the software, or rather pay more for add-ons, etc. So the question is; is that a worthwhile addition or a waste? Also I'm a newbie to recording in general so whats the difference between a Graphic equalizer and a parametric?

hi there mdk , well im thinking of getting one myself and would like to add a few things to your question .. hope u dont mind. But im wondering what shelving exactly is and is it available on outboard eq's.. I hear of low shelving and high shelving..cheers all
