stand alone mixers or sound cards?

Which one do you prefer. I'm looking to buy a new digital interface and I was only looking at sound cards because they seems easier to use and have more features. What are the advantages a stand alone mixer over a sound card (other then the ability to take it palces)

Hmmm

I use both. I will track with my mixer and then mix in my sofware. That way I avoid an D/A conversion. However I have mixed with my console too. Depends on what I'm doing.

How do you intend to record? Are you going to use stand alone preamps and no console? What kind of instruments are you recording?
