I recently made these speaker stands for my stereo speakers in my lounge room and have decided to make some for my near field monitors in my studio!

This photo is the Stainless Steel pipe being made all shiny on the lathe!

This photo is of all the pipe after many hours on the lathe filing and polishing to get the satin finish!

This is the pipe getting all wrapped up in bubble wrap for storage while I make the platform for the monitors to sit on and a base for the stands. They are 1 metre in height. Perfect ear level for my ears when sitting at my mixing desk!

hey there, i noticed you've made some monitor stands. i am an official international monitor stand inspector, and i cannot approve the use of these stands until i have received a set and tested them to international monitor stand specifications. please send me a set and i will go through the testing procedure and give them the OK. since i know you from this message board, i will do it free of charge, but just this once!

your cooperation is appreciated, i'd hate to have to alert the local authorities of your use of unapproved monitor stands...

Ok Zed, you busted me!

When I finish making them I will post you a set free of charge, just this once. You will just have to pay the delivery fee (4 blonde virgins) which we will arrange prior to delivery! :D

They are hard to get hold of over here as well, that's why I want them! :)

Those are real nice!

The Stainless Steel Speaker stands.

Not the 4 blonde virgins.

Well ok the 4 blonde virgins are nice too.

Gorgeous work Gordy...

But to be honest.... screw the speaker stands. I'm coming to your house tomorrow with my crewcab, and taking your lathe. Please have it packed up and ready to go. :D

Hey frederic, The lathe she is an old one but a good one, I just had a new 3 jaw chuck delivered and I put it on yesterday!

Very acurate still for an old girl! :)

The top and bottom bases are pine and I stain the bottom base with a jarrah satin stain and varnish and I just paint the top base black gloss. The pipes are Stainless Steel!

Here's the finished product! (Nick named "The Giraffes")

My Bass Trap and absorber construction is the next project I am tackling!
