in the art of mixing book it talks about how to spread a sound such as guitar to make it into stereo. my question is what if the sound is already stereo but u want it wider? becuase isnt all vst instruments already stereo so how would i spread it more if its already stereo. If i use a delay less than 30 ms and put the dry signal on the left and wet signal on the right, wouldnt that mess up the sound if its already stereo? does the sound have to be mono in order to do this and make it fit with the mix? i'm just confused cause i know synthesizers are normally stereo so how would u do this technique on an already stereo track to begin with?
