For those of us that have songs on Spotify I think we are always hoping to get more listeners and streams. I was thinking that with such a large community on HR we could support each other. I would be willing to author a playlist that everyone could follow. Whomever would like to participate could post say up to 5 songs that you feel would best represent you. I would post them on the playlist.
I would commit to playing the playlist at least one day a week, and everyone who has they’re songs posted there could do the same. Obviously that would affect our numbers. It would also let us hear the diverse music that has been produce by this community over the years, which I think is a positive thing. I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t be breaking any rules as we would be listening to new music and that is the whole point of Spotify.
Thoughts…….??

It's a great idea, but any hint that artificial plays are generated could, if they wanted to, result in a complete ban from all streaming platforms. Most of my stuff goes via Songtradr and I got a ban on Distrokid where one track has 12 million plays on Tik Tok and they decided that I must have cheated, so they banned all my music up to that date.

The rules say this
"If a music service discovers that you (or a marketing or promotion service) have boosted your play counts through any automated, deceptive, fraudulent or other invalid means (e.g. digital bots, click farms, payment for placement on playlists, etc.), it will be removed from the platform and the service may remove your entire catalog on a permanent basis."

I love your idea, but that long sentence could possibly be bent to fit playlist sharing? What do you think? I don't think I dare risk it as now for the first time ever, I get regular monthly payments?

Valid points Rob.
Hard to imagine that sharing playlists and songs with each other could be wrong as that’s the whole point of streaming.

Hi. I use Spotify to stream music on My home speakers in most rooms thru Control 4. We share a family plan thru Spotify.

What I have found is, I cannot run two different Spotify streams simultaneously. For example, if I'm listening to music in great room and my wife turns on music upstairs my stream stops.

Is it because as a family, we share one account on Spotify?

Thank you.

Yes that is the the same for me also

Well I started a playlist on Spotify called, Unknown and unsigned.
If any of you want me to post some of your songs on it, I am looking for originals that are more or less in the rock/classic rock vibe.
Cheers. Guy

I think sharing playlists are OK. What they are talking about is when people play something and have it on repeat but have it muted. That type of schema.

I'd send in some if I was on Spotify, which I am not. Best of luck, great idea to help support our HR community!

I’ve been working on my playlist. I changed the name to
Home recordings ( authored by evermech ) if anyone is interested in looking for it on Spotify. I have been adding songs by members here on the forum.
Save it, follow it, like it,
Cheers. Guy

I think it's a great idea. I wonder how often you'd have to play a song before it gets flagged by Spotify? I'm thinking once a week by one particular person wouldn't do it. I'm willing to try so how do I let you know what songs? How do I get to your playlist so that I can play your list? Lastly, I would also be willing to create a playlist like yours and I (and hopefully others) would play the songs.

What’s your band name on Spotify. I’ll look you up and add some of your songs to my playlist
To find my playlist just search for “ home recordings “ playlist. Mine is the one authored by evermech. Then just save it and follow it and like it and listen if you want. I am just putting songs on from members of this forum. So far I have songs from my band,
Ghosts of 48. and also
Honey Hunters. @Armistice
DM60. @DM60
Bats Brew. @GONZO-X
Jimmy Quango. @Guitarquango
Regdar and the Fighters ( can’t remember who this is )
Mark Mansueto. @markmann
Peace Riot. @Random dude

I have your playlist playing as I type. There's some good stuff on there 😎👍👍
My band name is just my name: mark mansueto. I have two EP's and a third on the way. When I create my playlist I assume it will be ok to add bands that are on your list? Is that what you had in mind?

I like what you have going on there Mark. Lots of nice guitar work after a short listen as I am just heading out for a bit. Added a bunch of your stuff to my playlist and followed you on Spotify also. Will take a real listen when I get back home

Yeah, a friend of mine thought he was doing me a favor by playing my songs repeatedly. Luckily Spotify didn't seem to notice.

There are ways to build an audience of real followers. What you are proposing are fake followers. Have a look at this book: 'One Million Followers, Updated Edition: How I Built a Massive Social Following in 30 Days'. I have found intelligent, photogenic women can be very good at creating engaging social media content. (And I don't mean soft-porn content or yet another set of makeup tutorials.)
I found it very interesting. It is available on Amazon. There are similar books specifically for music.
Two key hints on building a brand with music are:
  1. Have your own web site as your centre of your digital universe.
  2. Keep a database of fans recording 4 key things: Name, email address, SMS phone number and location.
That database will become the artists most important piece of intellectual property.
I am a producer and engineer who has never released my own material. Trying to get artists to do those two things appears to be almost impossible. I find the only those 2 things get done is to have a contractor from www.freelancer.com do it for them. Artists done understand the importance and often ask: "Can't I just do it all on Facebook?"
