I mix in (2x) real-time
Spillstick

Song I recorded yesterday. Intended an eerie feel, kind of like someone was being sneaky. Kind of dark. Comment on the mix and song please!:)

Nice tune.

It doesn't seem eerie to me though; this sounds like something that would go behind a comical claymation piece with no dialog... just a character moving through some sort of scenario with a humorous punch line at the end. :)

I can definitely see your description, with a sloppily constructed clay character. Choppy frame rates and poor scenery. :)

The mix is ok, I guess. I don't really listen to much music like this - so I don't know if you're out of touch with your genre (if this fits into a genre at all).

Nothing jumps out of the mix and says "Hey, I sound bad!!" so that's a plus. The guitar sounds kinda lo-fi ish in the beginning, but blends right in when other music starts, and that's cool. Good job on the mix.

As for the song - I don't really understand music like this....are you trying to make soundtrack music? I could totally see this being played while Napoleon Dynamite rides his bike down the street or something. Don't get me wrong - I don't think it's a bad song or anything, I just don't understand it...

It is eerie, with the unusual chord/notes at the end. I'd call them slightly dissonant ... The mix is cool, especially the tremelo....

I don't care for the synth that comes in at 0:45 with the 16th notes... I like the 'organic' nature of the tune up until then. I'd like to hear that instrument ripped out, and something more subtle put in. It's definitely a nice "interlude" piece though.

Hey Erockrazor, nice clean sound on the clean electric. The bass doesn't sound quite as good on my system. Sounds kinda muffled, like it needs to be scooped out a bit. The synth that comes in kinda changes the mood of the tune a bit. Not sure how eerie this is, I'd call it more on the strange side

Very nice!

I like the feel. I like the sounds.

It could use a vocal..

I really like this. Like others have said, though, I don't know if it sounds eerie. I'd say it sounds more lazy. Like, it sounds like music I'd listen to on a Sunday afternoon, if that makes any sense.

Still, I really liked the tune, the mix, and the tone on the instruments, especially the bass.

It reminded me a lot of Pavement at the beginning and then less so as the song went on.

Overall, I'd say you did a great job, but it needs to be longer and develop a little more.

Yeah, not eerie, but still cool and dissonent. I can only echo the sentiments of others. I like the synth at 0:45, but it is too loud. If you put this to video, I could see a scene with a homeless guy sitting on a park bench fighting with a pigeon for a discarded hotdog...

Good assessment Rokket. That also is easy to picture with this song. The song will pick up once the relish has been knocked off of the hot dog and onto the floor, that's when the riot begins. The man becomes enraged and the bird, aggressive. Pecks and punches right and left. Or maybe the bird just flies away with a hot dog bigger than himself. That might of been too dramatic.

Cool that you thought it sounded like Pavement. Just needed some garbled vocals and a more aggressive second half and I'd be a little more on point.

The song was really just a notepad for the main guitar riff. I liked its dissonance on the last chord but nothing really stemmed from it. I recorded it and actually really liked the guitar tone that came out of it. The best guitar tone I have captured in my opinion. Doesn't sound lo-fi to me, just clean with a nice attack and balanced tone.

In touch with my genre? I have no idea what genre this would be and I wouldn't bother trying to categorize it. But yea, I'm probably out of touch with it for those reasons. Heck, who needs genre's.

If this song is further written it will be way different. It will have a drummer and crappy vocals(from me!). Probably a strange time signature and a part where it gets faster. But as for now, this wont see any more recording time.

Thanks for all of these awesome responses. This is the most responses I've gotten from the clinic. I didn't expect many on this since it's such a goofy diddy. All of the responses have been helpful!

Thanks again, Eric.

Interesting, I guess. Sounds pretty good to me. Bass is a little muddy, but not bad. I don't like the synth part at all. I was merrily following along until it went all Duran Duran on me. :p

It definitely has a lazy, strolling kind of feel to it. Maybe like something from Fat Albert. :D
