I have a song that was recorded and mixed in protools awhile back and since I've been playing it more and more live I like the sound of the song sped up a little compared to the original recording I did. I remember Protools adds when I first bought my MBox that said the song speed could be changed without changing the tone of the song. Anybody familiar with this feature. I would like to speed it up a little and re-mix it.

U can do it by using the elastic properties and changing the time..Or the TCE tool.

excuse my ignorance but is that a plug in or is it built into the software. Do I just select it from a drop down menu? I had to pack up all my recording stuff and move back out of my temporary studio (my daughter who was away to college's bedroom) and haven't been in the software for awhile.

what version of pro tools are you running?

check on digidesign's website, they've got some good tutorial videos on elastic audio.

TCE is an audiosuite plugin.

elastic audio came out in pt 7.4 i think. you can turn it on by clicking its icon on the channel strip, "its NOT a plugin that you put as an insert." the icon "in pro tools 8" looks kinda like an upside down T. you have 4 options to chose from. polyphonic, monophonic, rhythmic and Varispeed. I would chose the polyphonic to change tempo. but, i have found that with slight tempo changes, artifact are easier to hear than if the tempo change were more dramatic. set your waveform view to warp to edit it. if you still need some help, im more than happy to assist :)

Thanks for the comments. I will play around with it this weekend when I have some time to set everything back up. Had to relocate my studio from my daughter's bedroom (back for summer from college) and everything is in disaray.

I will paly around with it either way just to learn how to use this feature but, after listening to my demo again there are two or three spots that I need to rerecord the vocal anyway so I may just start over and record at a tempo more like how I play the song now.

Edit- I'm using Protools LE version 7.4
