Can anyone explain the difference in Spectrum analyzer modes (Bartlett, Blackman, Hamming, Hann)???

I would imagine they are different algorythms but WHICH one should I use?? And does it matter ?? (I imagine it does...;))

Thanks !!

Are you using PAS spectrum analyser ?
Differece is in decimal value aproximation and response ( log / lin ).
Use default ( Hamming in PAS - i think, not sure ), just do everything in one mode to get feel of response.

Actually - until I save enough for a proper analyzer...(I like the PINGUIN but it costs $$$$$)

...I'm using the built-in one from Soundforge and a Winamp plugin called DSP Spectrum analyzer...

I believe the defaults are Hamming for the DSP plugin and Blackman for the SF...

I mainly use them as I play back a mix to see if there are hidden problems I didn't pick up with the ol' ears...just a second check.

I'll stick with the defaults...

Thanks IM.... :)
