Speakers in notebook computers

For those with notebook (portable) comps. How (if at all) do you use the onboard speakers? I don't mean do you use them to mix on. That would be nuts. Maybe check your mix on. But just want to know generally how you use them at home and/or work. And what level of sound performance do you really expect? Did you base your purchse on how the onboard speakers sound?

Fuggedaboutem. Although I suppose they're a nice place to run system sounds to (using the built-in interface). Less confusion.
