Spaghetti Western

Pete, that's pretty cool for just whipping it up. I liked the song and most of the instruments sounded OK, but I think the lead makes it sound a little too fake. I'd like to hear it more "natural" sounding, but that's just me. I wish I could bust out a tune VOILA just like that. Nice job :)

you should try and see how it sounds with out the drums..........maybe even try it by slowly layering some natural percusion....shakers etc.....anyhow, the music is nice and flowing.........the levels seem to be fine........good work

nice tune pete ... so far just an idea ofcourse ... but nice
cheers

cool idea going here muze.. It was pretty low in volume, for some reason I had to crank it all the way up..

I like the mood and sounds here, but I'm not crazy about the drums.. It's almost like the drums give it away, but maybe it will grow on me.. I had it playing several times in a row already, and it's bothering me less now.. I am starting to like it a lot..

sounds like a showdown to me! :D

cool..

Hey Pete,
....cool impression man. Im looking forward to hearing where you go with this. If you decide not to do vocals, a cool idea might be to ask theron to do "spoken word" over this....... A very cool idea in my h op. It would suit the music well.

Whatever you decide to do, great start.

 G

Echoing everyone else's thoughts...

Nice piece of music. As sam said, pretty low in volume.

Spaghetti Western? How'd you get that title? Is it because this would be good background music for a transition sequence in a spaghetti western (e.g., where Clint Eastwood is giving the squaw a ride to the Indian encampment on the other side of the mountains). Do I have too much imagination? or not enough? :D

Nice job.

it has a hopeful "movin ahead" vibe going.

organ sounds good.

i use soundforge xp as an editor and it only takes a minute to normalize an mp3...

i could almost hear singing like on some old king crimson stuff in my head.

hey wait!!! did you copy an old king crimson tune?????

hahahahaha

it could be everybody getting ready for a big gunfight. i could see it!

Thanks very much guys,I really appreciate all the comments!

I don't know if I'm going to take this any further, just trying to get back in the groove.
First time I was able to record in almost a month.

Jeap,I better go back and listen to some Crimson to make sure!:D

TripleM,definitly not enough.
I think I watched Once upon a Time in the West 3 times last month, must have something to do with it.:D

Guernica,voice over is a cool idea,didn't think of that,thanks.

Sam,I was just messing around but kind of got caught up.
Glad you liked it,"hoedown at the showdown"!:D

Fed,definitly just an idea, kind of like the melody though.

powderfinger, the drums were just the same pattern repeated,I know pretty monotonus.
Shaker type stuff sounds good.

Barometer, thanks, sometimes it's just nice to play around and see what happens.:D

I apprecite very much everyone bothering to listen !:)

Thanks,
Pete

HI THERE!!

Hey Pete: Good to see ya'. How's your back? I've been picturing you laid up in a hospital bed, T R Y I N G to hit the "record" button to finish "The Road Less Travelled," and just not quiiiiiiiiiiiiite being able to reach it.

:D

This tune is well produced, in my opinion. I'd like to hear more of the guitars, but they're probably not too quiet. I just think they sound really good...so they should be obnoxiously loud.

:D

Good to hear something from you again,
Chris

i agree with chrisharris (aka jamal buchet) about the guitars. they are the highpoint.

i don't totally like the organ lead sound. i like organs in general so i'm not saying to throw it out or replace it, it just has a lack of grit that i'm looking for. looking for grit in my own organs so i'm not an example of what i'm looking for either.

I had to listen to this song because of the title,I'm a huge fan of Hugo Montegro's work on the Clint Eastwood man with no name trilogy.
I personally don't care for the drums,IMHO it could use sparser orchestral type pecussion.
The vibe is very cool and right on for this type of music.
If you redo or expand on this I'd love to hear the result.

Great mood on this Muzeman! What was nice about the first listen was that with no vocals I was able to fill 'em in myself...thanks for the excercise :D

I would keep working with the theme if I were you...you could take this to a lot of places. Reminds me somewhat (though yours is more up tempo than this) of Ween's "Bueno Tardes Amigos." Check it out, just to see where they took a similar tone.

Chris,thanks very much for asking!

Backs much better, you know,it has a mind of it's own!
I got one of those sticks with the claw on the end so's I could reach all my stuff!:D

Glad you liked the guitars, the only instrument I can really play, kinda!

erichenryus,thanks,
I listened again, your right the organ definatly needs more grit.
Mabey a big electric guitar sound would fit better.

acidrock,I'm a big fan too,I really dig Sergio Leones stuff.
Glad you liked the vibe,thanks.

SLuiCe,I hadn't planned on any vocals.
I know it's probably up to the calibre of the stuff you usually do,but if you think you can make something of it,your more than welcome to it.:)

Thanks for the tip,I'll definitly have to check out "Bueno Tardes Amigos."

Thanks,
Pete

Really sorry to hijack your thread Pete, but this has been a problem for awhile, so if anybody cares (I sincerely hope you have more interesting stuff going on in YOUR life than I do :D), then you can see that I'm one guy...chris. That's it.

Oh yeah, if you check out the thread, see if you can tell who's NOT being honest.

(please don't mess up Pete's thread by responding here...)

Again, sorry Pete.

hey pete...

man im gettin alot of hiss...is it just me??...maybe the levels sre too quiet...??....yeah way too quiet.....i hate that drum machine...i understand why people use them its just sssooooo hard to get a good sound.....but as everyone else has stated ...."thumbs up".!!!

jamal

Cool one Pete. Just a thought; try using a "Ventures" style guitar in place of the organ sound. You know, the electric guitar played on the lower note strings with a vibato effect. Then you would have a truly vintage sound. But I do like it just the same.

<><
George

Thanks George,I was thinking the same thing, big tremelo guitar.
Really glad you liked it!:)

Pete

heya muze--Definetely a cool tune-sounds like alot of things have been covered-overall volume-drum machine-and I'd like to hear a nice guitar solo/melody to push it over the top. Was just watching "the good the bad and the ugly" the other night so it was nice to hear this-it definetely has that spaghetti western sound. some percussion might spruce this up too...
