Sounds like feedback, but it can't be?

In this short phrase, I sing "a-wandering, along the riverside!"

On the "ring" of "wandering", it sounds as if somebody has dropped a spoon on a hard floor in the background.

The reason I think that it cannot be caused by feedback, is because I am singing straight into my laptop's sound card from a headset, with no play through. So the sound can't be getting back to the mic that way. But I am not sure if anything else can produce feedback?

I am trying to figure out if it is a vocal register thing, or some weird sort of feedback! It happens every time on the same syllable.

Can anybody help? Thanks.

Do you have reverb on the recording? Sounds to me like it could be a reverb artifact...

In that case, I'd say it's probably some form of resonance within the mic head.capsule/basket.

Thanks. I think you're right. I tried it with a different mic and it did it on a different note/syllable.
