Hi everyone, I'm wondering what I should use in order to stop the *thud* vibration/sound of a kick pedal on an electric set from transferring through the floor down to my neighbors apartment. I remember reading a post a few months ago but I can't find it. Thanks

Well, you may lessen it, but I don't think you will ever stop it completely. Let's face it, you are performing an activity similar to hammering and that shock (energy) has to go somewhere.

You could try putting a few layers of carpet or maybe thick rubber underneath but that may make the kit (and peddle) unstable or wobbly.

Any chance of making that floor concrete? :D

Otherwise, you could always rent a garage or mini storage unit to practice in.

This explains it all with the photos alone:

An addendum to this would be to just bolt the four corners of the riser together with a counter-sunken bolt hole on the bottom piece of plywood so it doesn't mar a floor.

Also a run a bead of hot-glue, silicon, epoxy or what have you around each tennis balls' edge at the tops and bottoms for a more permanent setup. Tack some carpet on top and you're good to go!

EXACTLY what i was looking for! Thanks so much. Does anyone have any experience with this technique? It seems it would work well. Thanks again :)

You could also shorten the length on the beater rod on your kick peddle. It will hit with less force then. But, you may have to adjust the sensitivity (in the module) of the pad trigger.

Every little bit helps.

Replace the electronic kit with a real kit then ask the neighbor which one they prefer.

for real, that would possibly make them less grumpy
