SoundMAX...is it crud?

hey everyone,

i have a SoundMAX Digital Audio soundcard on my brand new Sony Vaio computer. i'm wondering if it's up to the snuff of the computer, or if i just don't know how to use it yet. in a reply to another question i had, someone told me it should have an on-board mixer that i could use to record any sound my soundcard was processing to Home Studio--either i'm a gerbil-brain, or it doesn't have one...

It's probably the Windows mixer... double-click on that little yellow speaker icon in the lower right-hand corner... the window is labeled "Play Control."

Home Studio has a mixer too...

I have the same soundcard in my viao. I upgradded the Audiophille 2496 card, it's a pretty popular card. You'll probably want to get another soundcard like I did so you can hear the diff. for yourself.
