Hi guys - I'm going to switch to a software that I can use midi with (as opposed to just audio) so I can get better sounds for the midi tracks I've been creating in Jammer & importing. (Jammer is not a VST host). I currently use the Edirol VSC for sounds.

my question: I'm not sure if sound fonts + a sound font player is basically the same thing as a software midi module? Any suggestions as to what to use - freeware preferably until I know more what I am doing.
and is it complicated to do? Thanks!!

www.rgcaudio.com - "SFZ" soundfont VSTi player. Works great and you can't beat the price.... free!

If you load up the bigger soundfonts (I use Unison and Cadenza from hammersound.net) you'll get incredibly good sound from any 24-bit card.
