soundfont player?

Hi. Is there any VST instrument or tool out there that would allow me to play Soundfont sounds as a VSTi rather than merely as a Midi Track. I.e. play soundfonts through a VST instrument channel that I can apply audio effects to, rather than having yo record each MIDI track as audio once composed, then running it back in as an audio track.

I'm using Cubase SX. Hope this isn't too dumb a question.
