You might just disable the drivers for the modem sounds if they get in the way. But I've got a similar modem and a Gina and this wasn't necessary.

My computer has an internal 56k modem with a jack for speakers. The computer also came with a soundcard... I currently use the soundcard to record into the computer, but its output is very low. It seems that the output is being routed to the modem, because the modem's output gives a stronger signal. (louder)... which is why I have my amp hooked up to that instead of the soundcard itself. What do I do when I want to put a Gina in the computer and take out that soundcard?
