Hi , I'm quite new in here and am pretty sure this is the right place to ask the pros.

I need some answers on which of the 3 soundcards i'm looking at , M-Audio Firewire Audiophile , the M-Audio Audiophile USB and the Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro. I'm currently using Adobe Audition 1.5 and Guitar Rig on my SoundBlaster Live. Sucks for me.

I'll be using the card just for composition and small records , some midi recording, dont really need lots of inputs as i'll be the only one playing instruments. Here come my questions :

1. I've read a little to know that USB and FireWire's latency difference is barely noticable when recording less than 3 or 4 instruments. So would i be right to say that whichever card i get, it wouldn't cause much of a problem regarding time latency?

2. My main concern for the new card is the support for ASIO 2 drivers. It's mainly for my Guitar Rig and effect processing. It states that both M-audio product supports "zero-latency hardware direct monitoring, ultra-low latency ASIO software direct monitoring" . However , the Audigy 2 Platinum Pro , supports both direct monitoring and recording with almost zero latency! . What does this mean ? How does this differ in quality wise? All 3 cards are in my budget range.

3. ... Bear with me pls. The Firewire Audiophile features a pair of RCA input, Left n Right. To record from a 1/4 jack (guitar) , i'll need to have a connector. How will this effect the signal chain and quality of sound?

If it helps, i'm using a P3-1Ghz , 384 Ram , WinXp , Nividia Geforce 4 32mb. Thanks in advance for the help and advise!

Also , I would like to hear from those of you who are lucky enough to own one of the 3 cards, especially the Audiophile USB ! :p Any problems running recording and direct monitoring effects using ASIO/WDM drivers ? God bless yawl ! Checking in every half an hour.. :D
