Is the 1820m the only <$500 soundcard that has phantom power preamps? RME, I could only find one on the $1500 fireface 800.

Also is the one on the 1820m good, would it be better than the entry levels preamps available? (tubepre, studio mp, et.c)

The MobilePre USB card has phantom power.

I'm not at all sure I'd want to run this card using internal USB power though... I'd much rather use an external USB power supply to the MobilePre if one is available. The USB bus provides very small amounts of power, and something is getting pushed while providing +48v phantom power from USB.

Most interfaces I have seen do have phantom power....

All of the presonus stuff does, as well as the bulk of M-Audio.

You could also just Get a Mixer that Has Phantom Power and Mic Pre-Amps and then output from the Mixer into your PC......

So Far For me it has been working out great, I use the Mixer to Mic and Mix the Drums and then Output from the Mixer into my Delta 44 in stereo.....

You can get a Fair Quality 8 to 12 Channel Mixer with Pre-Amps for well under $500, Beringer has some Fair Mixers For a Good Price you Might want to check into....
I Got My "BST Lab36 8Ch Pro Mixer" on e-Bay new for $60 and it sounds Very Good and Gives Me a Lot of Inputs for recording whithout spending a Fortune....

Cheers
