Im currently using an Echo Audio Layla as my multitrack soundcard. And im very very happy with it. What i intend to do is build two systems. One for recording featuring the Layla, then i will dump it all down onto a machine built only for mixing. Where in lies my question. What recommendations do you have for soundcards as far as the mixing machine. Now this wont be used for recording purely monitoring while i mix. Or should i just swap the Layla over all the time?
Cheers

Poddy, why would you use 2 computers ? Most of us record and mix in the same PC, same mixer, same monitor... It can be done in single house, why would it take two ?

I agree with James. I don't see the point of using two machines that one machine would do perfectly well. But "why have one if you can have two for doubble price?" :D

Besides, James... you know we both perform MIDI-sequensing on two machines.... ... .. . :)

I didnt explain the situation as well as i could. I do most of my recording on site. So i cart my pc to various studios, or wherever we may be recording. And i dont like having to pull my setup apart all the time, and then risking damage on the way.

Besides why have only one toy if you can have two!

For mixing you only need a single stereo output right ??
Look at the audiophile 24/96...that would be an excellent candidate. Not to pricey;)

Basically same as Audiophile, except that it has balanced 1/4" inputs rather than RCA. It also lacks MIDI ports which the Audiophile does have.
