Hi my wife sings and plays piano she has asked me to “work out the technical stuff” so that she can record her voice, guitar, bass and keyboards. So I’ve been reading heaps on the net and have visited a couple of shops. One shop advises go pro tools with a ? mbox and buy a mac, the other suggests use my current pc(It's an AMD 1800 mhz,512RAM 80 gig h/d ) with a package he sells which is Cubase LE that comes with a sound card I think it was a Tuscam.
I have read on some forums people have problems with their sound cards and the recording program they are using.
Can someone suggest and recommend an economical soundcard that they have been using that works well with cubase. I’m just looking for a basic set up to record a voice and 2 instruments at the same time.
Thanks.

If u want to record the voice, guitar, bass and keyboards simultaneously then consider getting a audiophile 2496 with a mixer. another alternative would be to get an audio interface or soundcard with lots of inputs/outputs but this selection will be more expensive. personally, i own a 2496 and work with cubase..it works perfectly. i havent had any problems. also, consider sticking with a PCI interface if u dont move around and record at other places. USB can sometimes lack in speed and initiate crackles in audio. firewire is also good, but then theres no point if ur going to be recording at one place. PCI is so far the best for home studio enthusiasts.

Thanks for the replies I wanted to stick with a pci interface I'll do a search and read up about the audiophile 2496. I don't have firewire connections.
