hi,

i have a MARIAN MARC4 MIDI which i use for virtually everything.

I also have a SB PCI128 which was already installed in the computer.

My problem is that the CD player seems to be hardwired into the SB, and I'd kind've like it going through the MARIAN.

Would any brainy individual out there know how I go about re-routing the CDplayer ?

Many thanks....

Jackie

The CD isn't hardwired to the SB128. Are you referring to the little cable runing from the back of the CD-ROM to a connector on the SB128? This is an audio cable, goes from the output of the CD to a CD Audio Input on the soundcard.

Ok, looking at this picture:

http://www.marian.de/english/marc4midi.htm

I see a row of 8, but that has to do syncing up another card. So it doesn't look like you have any audio CD input connector on the MARIAN.

You can play audio cd's without that cd connector though. Can't remember the details though... AlChuck?

yep - it's the audio cable out of the back of the CD player I'm thinking of (derrrrr)!

You're right, there doesn't seem to be any input for this kind of cable on the MARIAN.

Do you think there might be another option?

significantly large bundles of THANKS

You can play audio CDs without that connection if you use the latest version of Windows Media Player. I believe Winamp does this too, though it might require a plug-in or some special fiddle. I suspect that all these media player apps will work this way pretty soon.
