hey..I just moved this over from the analog board..lol. I've determined my souncard is blown and need to get a new one.
however, being the renegade that i am, i want to try to bypass it for now and still come out with a somewhat respectable recording. everytime i take it to get repaired, it takes a month and they wipe out my whole hard drive - i know, it's sh*t, but i live in a small town and would rather figure out an alternate way to do things.
i am recording some material on a TASCAM 424 MKII and then want to load it onto my computer via "Audacity". right now, because the soundcard is blown, i've been inputting via the "mic" input, but it is too sensitive and there is some sound distortion which i don't like.
what sound card would you guys recommend for this job? i currently have a REALTEK AC97 and a CONEXTANT FALCON audio capture - and the wife and i will be installing it ourselves. alternately, if anyone has thoughts on how i can bypass the whole soundcard completely, that would be great too.
thanks!
