Soundcard help

alright, my computer lags whenever i put effects on the mix. I need a good soundcard, maybe 24 bit hopefully, that'll handle the effects for me in my mix, that will take the power itself rather then putting it on the computer. Any suggestions?? Oh heh and preferably under 600 bucks.

What CPU type do you have on your PC?

I don't think adding another soundcard is going to help.

When you add effects to your tracks it is the CPU and RAM that is doing the work.

How much RAM do you have?
How fast is your processor?

114 ram on a Pentium 2. Its ok i guess, but argh i want a better soundcard anyway =) heh mine sucks, its a project card.

yo gidge man, do you know anything like that or a soundcard but cheaper??

that looks great i must say, but too many 7's for my price range. Maybe that many 4's or 5's but...err 777 bucks, wooh. =) if you have any suggestions, please spit em in my face!! woohoo happy christmas everyone!
