soundcard for mixdown?

hey, i'm recording my stuff onto a roland 880ex. i have an internal burner in my computer, but i want to get a good soundcard. all i need it for is to send a mix to the comp as a .wav file, from that to mp3, then burn it. what kind of soundcard would suit this job the best? do i need to go high end or can i get good quality from a couple hundred bucks? thanks...

Mixit has already asked my first question ... MP3? *shudder*

As far as the sound card, I would highly recommend using either of the digital outputs on the Roland ... It's best to stay in the digital realm as much as possible. So find a decent card with digital input capability (that won't be hard - there's a ton of em out there).

r-bus compatible?

does WHAT have R-bus? I looked it up on that site...is every Roland machine capable of using that? If so I'd definitely get that card. I'm retarded when it comes to computer/recording stuff. HELP!!

I'm pretty sure that your machine doesn't have R-Buss.You can transfer your tracks two at a time through s/pdif.

I just got the M-Audio audiophile a couple days ago and I'm loving it.
