SoundBlaster Live + CoolEdit Pro

I saw a topic about this a while ago.. but can't find it anymore.

I've got a 1,2Ghz 256 RAM Win98 SBLive! Platinum setup, yet CoolEdit Pro does those annoying pauses when I press for example 'stop'.
It doesn't react immediately. I know it probably sounds like a small thing but it's kind of annoying. Especially as with my old crappy 200Mhz computer I never had this problem.

No problems with audio clicks or pops, just that the clock and the 'marker thing' (that moves when you play a sound) are flashing and jumping around and I hate it.

I've tried different settings with the buffers and cache sizes, I've set my computer to "network computer", but what else can I do?
Any tips? Is this because of windows98?
