Soundblaster 5.1 help please

i bought a soundblaster 5.1 today, the guy at the store told me it would be a good place to start on a budget to hoop my turntables up into and record multi track mixes with different software, is this true? or should i try a new immediatly , i think ill upgrade within the year but is this good for now?

Yup... nice card for start. Watch out drivers issue on WinXP. What software you use to record, edit & mix anyway ?
 
Hey, Ive been hearing a lot about sound fonts but i havent seen any pictures, if anyone can SHOW me how sound fonts look....please do that now.
