Sound Troubles

Ok here is my complete hook up, i have a yamaha mixer a headphone distribution rack amp, hooked up to my dell labtop and im using cakewalk. Ive recorded a few things so far, but the quality i want is not exactly the best and im trying to get close to best as i can. When i record it has some static in the recording but not too much. Oh and i am trying to get the effects out into the headphones, would i need another mixer for the out put of the pc?

Why don't you just plug the headphones into the computer?

And the static problem most likely comes from the soundcard. What sound card do you have?
