Hot diggity!

Can anyone help!!?? I use a SB 5.1 live! s/card. My 4 track goes through my sb then into my software(sequencer, editor et al)an then I have that connected to my HiFi. My prob is this, I read that it's not too good an idea to put your sound card through your stereo.
Can anybody say why this is? The only reason I can think is that the stereo might & probably does colour the sound. I get a well adeqeute sound going this way going through a pair of Mission spkrs. Would I be better getting a half descent pc/ subwoofer setup since that shouldn't colour the output. The hifi is always set on a flat eq, will this make a difference? Financially, monitors are out of the equation for the forseeable eon.

Any advise will be rewarded by deposit in your karma bank!!!

cheers

incidently, my next s/c is going to be an maudio audiophile 24/96.

Yes, you can count on it that your hifi colours your sound more or less.
BUT you're better off with your hifi than with any set of pc speakers. They'll colour your sound even worse. Hyped bass and highs and all that sort of stuff. Stick with your hifi while you're saving for monitors (that's kind of what I do too).
