Or extend the USB mic cable to the outside of your home, as close as you can get to where the sanitary men will remove all of the noise forever. Sorry, I couldn't resist. :/

The easiest solution to this is often to simply purchase KVM extension cables and move the computer processor father away--into a closet, different room or whatever.

Totally would if i could but this is the best idea so far. Unlucky for me i cant

M-audio audiophile 2496. Not gaming sound card. 2nd cardiod (at2020) but even with it away from it still picks up.

Okay, so pick up a fan controller and switch to 120mm or larger case fans and HSF.

Just seal up all the vents on your computer...that'll fix the problem for about 10 minutes or so :D

don't build a box/booth, cos it'll sound like the mix is in a box/booth.

Don't box up the computer, cos it'll just overheat.

Either, buy bigger fans that can run slower, or get some water cooling.

if the fans aren't as noticeable in linux, then its safe to assume they're being controlled by your os, so either record in linux,
or see if you can download some fan control software for xp and take it from there.

If you do get em to run slower in xp, make sure you have a temperature monitor program running and keep an eye on those temps.
That said, if you're not overclocking or overstressing, you shouldn't be overheating.
