Lol. I don't know if it's really a "spam" bot, but it's some kind of bot or a run-of-the-mill troll.
Yeah, I'm thinking troll or someone who's trying to get their post count high enough to be able to post a link to their latest hip-hop track. Because the comments are all stupid, but still on-topic.

Thanks RAMI for the link, I read the article when I was trying to find info about their drums, appreciate it, and thanks everyone for the replies. I figured there was going to be Gary Glitter jokes, I almost didn't post his name.

As I posted earlier, I found an interview where Joan said they didn't compress the drums, I have tried that before but I guess it works a lot better when you have a good drummer in the studio, with good mics, good recording equipment, a treated room, someone in the control room who knows what he's doing, and ya...recording in a studio.

Yes all that goodness matters.

I met joan some years back while working security back stage at a show she was doing..
she seamed pretty cool...and I was a bit surprized that she was pretty much a health nut (not meaning in a bad way per se)..anyway, I remember she was VERY picky on the food back there, and made someone head to a store for a peticular bread..

it was a bit odd..

anyway, yeah I dig some of her tunes, one of the bands I was in years ago, use to play "I love rock and roll"..it was fun to play.. and we had a chick that sang it..not like joan did though..

I was going to mention that but I didn't want to bust anyone's bubble!

Remember she was leather on *Happy Days* Fonzie had a thing for her. Yet she had a thing for Mrs Cunningham!

DAMNIT....as I was reading this.."Remember she was leather on *Happy Days* Fonzie had a thing for her. Yet she had a thing for...."..
I was hoping you were gonna say pinky tuscadero..LOL

I've always thought Joan Jett is the best female rock musician ever. Rock and Roll is a man's game, and I typically don't like any music involving broads, but Joan Jett is awesome. The Donnas are pretty bad ass too.

Those are good...thanks for posting.

Have you guys seen the movie The Runaways? What did you guys think of it?

Some Joan Jett pix that I took at a convention in 2007. Enjoy: joan_jett_and_the_blackhearts Photo Gallery by Richard King at pbase.com I wish I had recorded there that day.

a) I wish I was that muscular
b) saw her perform with the original blackhearts in vancouver (my home town) last summer - she came on stage, did a brief soundcheck scream that was super sexy and cool sounding, played a few chords, sang a bit, was polite and grateful with the early outdoor crowd that was there for the soundcheck :-)
c) then at the start of the gig she came out and nailed one or two of her greatest songs but was decidedly low key and introverted, wearing big dark shades and a leather jacket the whole time, and it was still awesome but unexpectedly low key.
d) the low key thing suddenly made sense when she announced to the crowd "I want to dedicate this concert to my mom...... she DIED yesterday".
e) holy SH** what a woman to do that whole damned concert for us. I get teh strong feeling it was partly because it's her job but also partly because it was therapy for her.

and yea, love the sound of the black hearts drummer. always have, always will. amazing player and that is part of the sound as well of course.

interesting discussion going on in here. i'm a big fan of this thick and dry drum sound as well. i overdub at least two kicks and like someone else said throw handclaps on the snare. glitter uses a marching band approach and i find a big floor tom will more useful than a kick drum for the big booming bass sound. you can do a whole lot w/ just a tom a snare and a cymbal and some overdubbing.

I'll never forgive her for write that song about me (I hate myself for loving you). Nope not never. :(
