Hi

I need some help with sound modules ...I think!

I have cubase sx and want record realistic instruments (violins drums etc)

I have a audiophile 2496 sound card and was thinking I needed a sound module since the proteus software that came with teh card doesnt seem to like cubase (unless I am doing soemthing silly there instead)

Can anyone advise?

well, can't say that much but,
i've beenw orking with the proteus 2000 and i'm NOT satisfied with the sounds, i worked with a roland mc303 groovebox (as a sound module) and well,,,, nice for some techno sounds...but realistic, no...
whenever i try to work with samples and sounds i do it with software,
ok, its real cool to send 16 different channels to one proteus, you can record an entire song with it,
but untill now i havent heard amazing sound modules yet, so guess i kinda got the same question..... DO they exist? or should we just stick to software and wave samples...

I actually still use a Proteus 2000 (Well, actually a PK-6) and a Roland XV-3080. They can be coaxed. You just have to put a lot of effort into the midi programming. Doing some serious mucking around with CCs to fudge notes into the world of realism.

BUT...

Considering the price of modules vs. sample libraries out there, there's no comparison. A DVD of orchestra for 150-300 dollars will kick the ass of hardware romplers. Drumkit from Hell, Erskine Drums, and other drum libraries will destroy rompler drums.
