sound modules vs wav sound cds

I have been using cds from big fish and prosonics for a while... A buddy of mine told me that a roland sound module sounds louder and better... Any info anyone???
 
A Roland is good at sounding like a Roland. having used JVs in the past and currently owning an XV-3080, it's not good at sounding like my library of nicely sampled strings. It's all in what you want to do...
 
yeah.. some things are better suited for different sounds.

like some korg units sound nice for strings/pads.. roland has some neat keys.. studio electronics for bass..lexicon for verbs and sample cd's for for certain things.

you really have to listen and be the judge... some units just do the job better than others or all-in-one boxes
