Sound Modules.. Relics or Classics ??

Greetings All..

I am new to the forum.. Looks amazing.. Hope to become a regular member !!!

I am using Logic Studio 9, iMac, Focusrite Saphire Pro 40, and a Korg micro X (controlled from a digital piano).. amongst other things..

I am looking at adding to my synth sounds? Logics soft synths are good (mostly).. micro X is fantastic.. but would just like more to play with !!

Are sound modules due for the scrap heap anytime soon ?? or are they still in the running ?? I'm looking at the Motif-Rack Xs? and a Roland XV-5080 (both together).. and as I understand it.. you cannot get the roland stuff as a soft synth..

Plus.. am I right thinking an external module is less load on the computer ??

Any advice or opinions warmly welcomed?

Yeah, it's cool, eh? I have used it as one resource in the buying decision of many a synth. No info on value, but it has helped me decide if I wanted to drive across town or not. Saved me lots of gas.
